Omnisens monitors 151 km subsea export cables at Greater Gabbard wind farm, UK

Inline

Omnisens systems are monitoring the temperature of the export cables of the two largest offshore windfarms. The cable lengths involved are 151 km (3 x 45 plus 16 km) of subsea export cable on the 500 MW Greater Gabbard wind farm and 48 plus 49 km on the Walney wind farm, both off the UK coast. Thanks to the distance range of the Omnisens systems, the entire length of these long cables is monitored.

Busy life for a Project Engineer

Inline

Sebastian has had a busy time since joining the Field Service Team. Following his QHSE and Basic Offshore Survival and Emergency training he has commissioned Omnisens systems or performed surveys on a pipelay vessel in the North Sea, a windfarm offshore substation as well as an oil platform off the Australian coast. Most recently he has been working on pipeline projects in North America, as well as in his native Switzerland. 'The good part is the challenges and rewards each project brings and the variety of cultures and working environments I experience. Not so good is the impact on my social life. Happily, I still manage to play in a basketball match most weeks!"
